The President's Letter - July 2026

Hello everyone,

Let me start off by thanking you all for your support of the Halifax Area Historical Society. I am thrilled to fill the position of president. I have learned so much from the example of those that have come before me and I will strive to meet the same high standard that they have set in the past.

I have been living outside of the area for an extended period of time in service to our great country and can’t wait to get back. When I am away, I always return with a renewed appreciation for the valley we call home and the people that give it meaning and character. I am proud of where I am from and there is truly no other place on Earth that I’d rather be.

I feel that the HAHS sits at the confluence of Halifax’s past, present, and future. I look forward to facilitating our community’s connection to the past through newsletters, programs, and events that foster meaningful communication and learning about our area’s rich history so that current and future generations can come to appreciate our home like we do.

I’ll close with a reference to the book of James - “A religion without works is dead”. The board of the society works to create opportunities and experiences for our community and we rely on you all to give our efforts meaning. Whether you sign up for a membership, sign on for a board position, attend our program nights, visit for a museum tour, or show your support on nights like the recent annual banquet, I can’t express my gratitude enough.

Thank you all again. I look forward to serving you in the years to come.
