With Halloween upon us, one thing is certain within American society as the leaves continue to fall and Autumn winds sweep through the month of November toward Thanksgiving...Christmas is never far from the mind.

Likewise, the Belsnickel was not far from this year's Halifax Halloween Parade.

As hundreds of families and community members turning out for the event and taking to the streets to gather fallen candy and witness the spooky spectacle, many turned their heads to the tail end of the parade where, in all of his grumpy, furry splendor, the Belsnickel himself could be seen, joined in the parade. Though clearly confused and irritable of the Fall decorations and costumes all around him, he was seen handing out flyers from his sack and asking children if they were admirable this year. Those that took too long to answer his questioning were swiftly warned of his coming on December 7th...and the justice that would arrive with him.

As always, if your children do not know of the Belsnickel or his ways, do your research and reach out to us with questions. If you haven't seen it, this video interview we filmed with the "Furry Santa" last year is the perfect place to start.

The Halloween Parade itself turned out to be an great success for the Halifax community, and many organizations and individuals attended the march around town. We look forward to the day the Belsnickel returns and the festivities that will arrive with him. We hope to see you December 7th at the Halifax Youth Center when he does!
